Ficus Benjamina, starting from zero, need advice! was created by Noob名媛直播

Hello everyone,
I've been thinking to start growing bonsai for a long while now and finally, yesterday I went to a nursery and got myself a ficus benjamina. I would like to get some word of advice from people who have experience in growing bonsai. As I am starting from zero and this is my first experience, I have very little idea on what to do (only the stuff I've read on Internet) and would be very grateful if someone provided me with reading material for beginners.
My ficus is fairly small, about 15 centimeters (6 inches) long.
As you can see from the picture there are 2 seedlings in the pot, should I separate and re-pot them or should I leave them be?

Your Ficuses are variegata, a little trickier than green colored ficus, but easy on beginners anyway.Noob名媛直播 wrote: My ficus is fairly small, about 15 centimeters (6 inches) long.
If they were mine, I would separate them in two vases, and let them grow for some time.
Watering properly, having a good draining soil, providing good natural light (outdoors is ideal) and keeping then alive are your first tasks.
Don't move them around very much, ficuses hate changing places all the time.
Good luck and welcome.

It has been more than two weeks since I re-potted the plants and they are looking quite good now. I want to know if it is too soon to start pruning them. I've started adding fertilizers once every two weeks.

Can anyone suggest what is the optimal duration after replanting to start pruning?

There is no set duration of time.. it depends on how big you want the trees to be, how thick the trunk should be at the bottom, etc.
