I bought my first 名媛直播 tree, a Chinese Elm, about 2 weeks ago. I am posting a picture from the day I bought it and will post another from today shortly. I can see some new leaves have grown since then and would greatly appreciate any advice on what to do from here.

Hy. From here I wold start to get a little taper on the trunk before anything else. I see you got a little sprout down low on the trunk. Let it grow free to get the trunk bigger down there. That,s my ideea .. encourage lower branches to grow in order to get a fat lower trunk.

Elms grow so strong so If i were you i would just learn how to keep it outside get used to keeping it alive.
And just let it grow and prune it back.
Learn how to imporove the shape and ramification.
You will over time need it to fill out alot and build some decent structre but be patient and dont rush things.
Research pruning techniques i think graham potter has a good video on pruning a elm tree to build up its structure find that on youtube or watch some of the many other vids available and put what you have learned to the test.
Build up experience thats the best way to learn.

I agree, one thing to know with the style you have is to make your branches on the out side of the bends not inside. When it comes to YouTube I would personally look up bonsai Mari, Ryan Neil is a great teacher and he has a website with live q and a along with live streams every Tuesday.
