Chinese elm falling yellow leafs – Am I the guilty was created by NCM

Hello everybody
Hope i'm posting in the right place as i think/hope it is not a disease...
I think i have a slight problem with my Chinese elm…or not ( if I’m the guilty one).
I’m from Portugal (South Europe) and my Chinese elm spends the whole year in the balcony facing south, so it gets a lot of sun during the day, I usually put it near a wall so it catches sun during morning until mid-day and then during the afternoon it only gets indirect light.
More less in the beginning of summer ( around may) and from one day to another (after some maintenance pruning) about 40% of the leafs turned yellow and dropped at the slightest touch.
Since then until now I’ve been trying to pin point the root of this by trial and error:
- I put it in a spot with only indirect light
- Reduced the watering
- Increased the watering
- Fertilized with P/K
- Prayed and talk to it
And although the amount of yellow leafs reduced very much it never disappeared completely… the elm continues to grow with new shoots but some of the leafs ( the older ones) in these shoots also get discolored.
Today I found out that the yellow leafs were increasing again.
I’m now thinking that the problem is not maintenance but some disease.
I’ve found a lot of posts with similar problems but not a solution that worked on my elm, and most of the fungal or bug symptoms don’t fit on mine.
Some pics:
Can you provide me with a little help?
Thank you
Hope i'm posting in the right place as i think/hope it is not a disease...

Hello, NCM, seja bem-vindo ao fórum.
Can be a fungal disease, can be stress from erratic watering, can be the hot summer. Please post the pictures directly on your messages with no external links, it helps.

Dear Clicio
Thank you for your reply.
I think that erratic watering isn't the cause of this problem because when it first appeared i didn't change anything regarding wattering frequency, amount, fertelizers, etc. the erratic watering was a trial and error to check if it could find the solution.
Thank you for your reply.

Yes Geoff, just saw it!
I looked at the elm and i didn't saw anything.
Ithink i'll remove any discoloured leaf, give it a good water wash and then apply the dish soap just in case.

Many times the Elm gets stressed by any reason (heat wave, being moved among different places, coming from outside to inside and vice-versa, etc) and the consequence is yellow dropping leaves. Could be nothing, it looks not so weak by the pictures.

Well its true that immediately before I pruned it but this second event had nothing of usual happening...
It has new big shoots so I was so worried but this second wave of yellow leafs left me on the defensive side.

Hi guys
So i think i have a fungal problem in my elm...
I removed any leaf that had a not so good look and then i basically washed all the leafs without wetting the soil ( because it was still wet) hoping i get rid of any insect but instead of solving it i made it worse...now there are a lot of new yellow leafs... I think i might spread it...
Any new ideas?
