Collected Boxwood in a bad state

I collected this boxwood six months ago, in a very bad state, as a leftover from a hedge.
It had a few aerial roots, ugly and dry, and most of the fine roots underneath were on the left side of the tree, and there was not many of then.
I repotted it in a training pot, cut back the dead branches and old wood, trimmed it, and have been watering it and leaving it alone.
I am not feeding it strongly (osmocote only), but it doesn't show any new growth since being collected; and now, midwinter here, the old leaves are drying and turning brown (pictures attached). As some people say boxwoods lose leaves in winter sometimes (i have never seen this behavior here), I will wait for the Spring and hope for the best.
Am I being too optimistic about it? Is it already dead?

Well, it is alive. It is a young plant, they are very slow growing. We had some earlier this year that got dry and lost a lot of foliage, they are not coming back much. They are growing in different parts rather than where the leaves fell. It has two chances, so I would just wait keep watering and hope.

I should have added that Box do not like sun. I have a friend who has a lot of very old trees, he keeps his in shade all the time, sheltered by other trees if he has to. They also like water. If you have a look for my previous post there is a pic of mine that I bought from him. It is thought to be about 200 years old from the size of the trunk. He has some thought to be 400 to 500 years old. He dug them from a hedge at a house that is that kind of age.

Yes, it is on a semi-shade place under shadows from nearby trees, and yes, I water it plenty.
But it is not 400 years old for sure!
