Hi everyone
I have had this ficus bonsai for almost 4 years now and for the majority of that period it's been ill and weak and slow to grow. I watered it regularly and occasionally fertilized it but I really did nothing more to maintain it. Over the last few month it shot out the monster branches that you can see in the attached pics.
Now that it's alive and well I want to maintain it and slowly pruine it. But firstly what's the best course of action with that monster branch? Should i pruine it with a concave cutter and cover the wound ? Is there any way that i can utilize it or regrow it next to the main root or in a separate pot ? Can it be harvested ? Also if I am to pruine it should I remove all of ot leave a few inches of the hardened base so that new branches my grow out of it .
Your thoughts and input is welcome.
I am very new to this.
Thank you.

Well, if you don't need the trunk or this branch to thicken, yes, you can prune it.Drosophila wrote: ...what's the best course of action with that monster branch?
