Beginner bonsai tips? (identify tree/care tips) was created by Domodragon

I just bought my first bonsai! I love taking care of it so far, I love putting my energy and thought into it, I love the idea of having a tree that could live longer than me if I properly care for it. The culture, process, and idea behind bonsai are all extremely intriguing and I'm beyond excited to have started this journey. That being said, I have been doing nearly endless research on how to take care of these wonderful plants. I still have many questions, which I feel are more specific to my tree, that I'm not able to find anywhere online.
Here are my questions.
1. I listed some photos, and if possible, I'd love some help trying to identify which species of bonsai I have. I meant to ask the lady in the store, but it escaped me at the time. So I'd appreciate any help, as I know specific trees require specific care, and can thrive better in slightly different conditions. I'd like to give my tree the personalized care it deserves, but I don't know the species.
2. Is having a layer of small pebbles on top of my main soil okay to do? It's how it came potted from the store and they told me it isnt bad for the plant. But what I want to know is are those rocks HELPING anything? I want to create the ideal environment, so if the pebbles impair healthy growth in any way, I'll remove them.
3. The last two photos attached show the concerns I have on two leaves. These are the only two leaves that look this way, and to me it looks like maybe a bug or something, in the greenhouse the tree was at, was eating at it. Because the leaves looked like that when I saw it in the store. They have not gotten worse since I have brought the tree home. Aside from this, I noticed two small fallen leaves, that had turned yellow. Only two though. Should this be a concern? New leaves seem to be sprouting, as well as new branches, you can kinda see the lighter colored ones in the photo. Does my tree look healthy to any of you more trained eyes?
4. What is the process for pruning and how often should pruning be done? Based on the type of tree I have, will there be any flowers, or other fruiting type blooms? Or just the leaves you see pictured? There is also two small sprouts coming out of the soil, that I pictured as well. Is my tree thriving?
These are all the questions that come to my head as of right now, I'll add more if they come to me. Thank you to anybody willing to offer any help to this beginner, I would love to become great at this art. Any general tips, helpful information, etc. Is greatly appreciated.

Thank you, I like the short and sweet answers. Much appreciated. So just to clarify before I do it right now, I should take off the layer of rocks? Also, in your more experienced opinion does the tree look healthy to you? Sorry if I'm repeating questions, I just really wanna be certain. I'm very glad I found this site, been reading all day! Thank you again!

Yes, your tree looks healthy (nice trunk!), and no, pebbles do nothing to help the soil. If they are glued together then they should definitely go.

Awesome, that puts me at ease, I was a little worried just cause this is my first tree. The pebbles were all loose, but I still took them out. Seems like it'll be easier to monitor moisture levels. Thanks for the answers guys!
