What did the shop where you bought it say the species is?

Hi, it was a 名媛直播 Shop from Melbourne Australia and even they weren't sure!
I have been doing some research, seems like it may be a Duranta (Geisha Girl)

I suggest you search Google Images for Duranta (Geisha Girl).

I'm not sure if this species is very suitable for bonsai.

Weird that the '名媛直播 shop' doesn't know what they are selling. Personally, I would not want to buy anything I cannot identify before I buy it.
You need to know what you buy so you know what care it requires.

Which I did myself, and I agree.

I have googled it defiantly seems to be a Duranta.
I originally went just for an Azalea but ended up seeing that and really liked the flower so I purchased as well.
I have found out a little more about them, hopefully I will be able to make it work because it is quite pretty.

I hate when someone says, "That's not a bonsai!" The literal meaning of bonsai is "plant in tray." and is a form of artistic expression but does have some basic ground rules. Even still true masters of the art encourage free flow design to help evolve the art. Usually sculpted from any hard wood tree (has bark) like maples and cedars or from shrub like trees such as Yews and Junipers. The overall "idea" is attempting to artificially sculpt the specimen to perfect natural tree forms in miniature and harmony with the container. Typically trees with naturally smaller leaves are easiest to achieve this but keeping the tree in an almost root bound state over time will help shorten the leaves. Happy hunting.

I hate it when people start arguing that every woody plant is a bonsai once it is in a pot.
