On the dutch forum they say remove one. So does Tony Tickle. On the IBC Facebook group the most say to keep both and very few say remove one. One of them says to remove both and bend the top to the other side, but I don't like that.
I am for the remove one part but I'm not sure which and I can't decide. So what do you folks think? Or do you have a totally different view of styling?
Curious to see the answers.
Cheers,
Teye

Hard to tell.. can't really see the perspective. On the photo without the papers it looks like the first 2 branches are at the same height?
I'd probably remove one, but if you remove the left one, it looks like you have two branches on the right only? I don't think I'd do that.
Maybe post some more pictures from different angles, without the paper covering the branch?

The "classic" rule is to have the first branch that goes the opposite way than the trunk, but I would not cut any branches. If I had to cut one it would be the right one though

Why would yo consider cutting any of those nice branches off, it's a really nice tree, just to gently prune for a hundred years, or so.

I think most of the branches are far too long. I'd shorten both bottom branches up to the the next stage of growth. The right one seems like it has more buds further back, so you could go extra steps. I'd do the same to the straight branch directly above the bottom right, as it doesn't seem to have much foliage except at the tips. Any way you're able to bring that foliage tighter to the trunk, the better, imho. It will make the trunk appear larger/older/taller, and could hide any unsightly/undesirable branch structure, like the bar branches at the bottom and the straight branch above.
