Maricopa is about 1 hour south of Phoenix, and I know that the Japanese Maple is a hardiness zone 5-7, and the area I live in is a 9. So I have a back yard with a fence and the fence cast a shadow where the afternoon sun is, that is where I am planning growing it. I am planning on starting the tree from a seed, to where I can grow the tree to the size of trunk I am desiring. I have many more questions but before I ask anymore my main question is can I grow a bonsai Japanese Maple in Arizona, being very high and dry heat and it does not get very cold here during the winter.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Dry heat = a problem
Japanese maple do not really like the hot dry winds. You will need a way to protect it a bit, I think.
