This is my first bonsai in training.
It is in the Malus genus, but the species is unknown.
Any suggestions on which style to train it in?
I was thinking of centering it and going for an informal upright.

Welcome. First tell us what country you are in. Next, get rid of that stone!!!! next, if you can, plant it in the ground for a few years. Why? Because it is just a seedling and needs to grow. Styling will come in time, right now it has to grow a whole lot more. There is nothing else you can do to it other than add fertiliser every couple of weeks, until your late summer. Use a low nitrogen one. Don't do any pruning until the late summer.

I am in the United States near Madison, Wisconsin. If I do not have a place to plant it in the ground, will a large container work? Why the low nitrogen fertilizer? Do you mean to fertilize it lightly or to use higher ratios of K and P compared to N? I thought that it was best to fertilize with N during spring to encourage leaf growth.
Thanks,
Kendell

A large container will work, use a free draining soil mix, I think a balanced feed is possibly best for overall health & growth
