Light for trees

Do evergreen or juniper trees need light over the winter. I am here in Pittsburgh and the recent weather has been below 0 degrees F for some time. I was keeping my trees on a covered porch protected from wind until the severe weather. I have since taken them into my unheated garage but with no windows. Is this ok or do some species need light during dormancy?

They should be fine. They will withstand -12c frost,. The main thing is that they are not allowed to dry out.
