Haha hey guys. So my girlfriend really likes frangipani, it her favourite flower, so I decided to try and make a bonsai out of one. This is just a cutting from the garden that im growing in a small pot. I know frangipani have massive leaves but what the heck... :silly: its worthwhile giving it a shot, and trying some leaf reduction on it.

Give it a try, you never know!
You always keep the big leaves, even if you can reduce it, but it's always a good experiment to see how far you can reduce these leaves. I'm curious to see it in the future!

Ya it has sticky white sap, its poisonous tho.. gives you a rash if you have it on you for too long. I know if i reduce the leaves i will still be stuck with big leaves, but at least i know in my mind they smaller than before haha.

Hello again. So its been a while now and it looks like the cutting has rooted
. The leaves have begun to open up
, which must be a good sign. They at a great size at the moment, and hopefully wont get any bigger. How they are now the biggest leaf is about 1/3 the size of a normal frangipani.
I took the pictures with my new camera, so i was just playing around

Cool man,
I like to see how people explore new things.
Do you think yoou'll be able to manipulate the young branches?
Goold luck!

I think I should be able to, at the moment I don't think the leaves will get much bigger because they don't have a very big root system. Perhaps if I keep trimming the roots the leaves will never be able to grow to their full length. But that's just my thought on it, I could easily be wrong.
