Hey guys and girls :silly:
I'm planning on building a bonsai shelf soon and was wondering if anyone could help me on some good design concepts.
I've researched it a bit but nothing really fits what i have in mind. Im wanting to build it out of wood, just over a meter or so wide and having 3 shelves. each one bigger than the other. One just above ground level and the top one at eye level. Each shelf being smaller than the other as they go up. Oh ya and im looking for a free standing shelf.
I know im asking for a lot but it would be greatly appreciated if you could help

I've an article here about making a bonsai bench. Maybe too big, but gives you an idea to make one.
You can also buy some planks of wood and some concrete blocks or something. The front row you put the wooden plank on the 2 stones (one far left, one stone far right) second row with 2 stones above so (2 stones far left, 2 stones far right) etc. so you get a bench that is getting from big to small.
I've also put a picture of my own bench, could be also interesting for you. Just 2 stone blocks from a garden centerer and a big wooden plank (or 2 smaller planks as I have)
Also try to search on google images for pictures of shelfs and benches.
Good luck and share some pictures of it when it's ready!

Tnx for the help guys, I have googled it already. I guess the link to the bonsai empire shelf is the structural design i am going for, in terms of simplicity and strength. I will just play around with the heights of the 3 different shelves. Im going to work on it during my next vac. Will post pics when its done

Sorry this took a bit longer than expected, but i finally got started on it during my last vac and the bench is now ready for spring. I thought it would be a great time to post it now after I had repoted most of my plants in bonsai pots which I have been collecting throughout the year. Now that spring is just around the corner I will be posting lots more . The bench cost around R280 which would be +-26 euro; I used concrete blocks for stands and wooden planks which i treated with lime sulphate. Oh and i plan on making a stepped bench so there will be two more levels in time to come. Heres the pics of the bench and my new en.

Here's a pic of a bonsai bench I made with joncoh, it still needs back struts for support, but is another good design for a bonsai shelf, this one was a bit more complicated, and requires a lot more precision, but the end result is worth it.
