I want to get my wife a flowering bonsai tree for our fourth wedding anniversary. She loves these trees, but is definitely a beginner. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

I didn't realize that was even an option. Just looked them up and they're very pretty. Thanks!

Thank you! Those can be beginner-friendly? I'll look at them as well.

What is beginner friendly or not is very much depending on your local climate. All plants hardy to your place is beginner friendly.

I think, a beginner friendly species is a forsythia. ( was my first attempt ever)

We're in Colorado, so it'll be pretty cold, but it'll also be an indoor plant. Recommendations are appreciated!

So you can rule out all recomendations you got so far. None of them will survive indoors.
The only option left is desert rose. Althou not technically a bonsai, it may survive indoors and it can look like a bonsai given time. It will benefit from cooler temperature during winter, but will survive without it.

Well, that's disappointing that we'll be so limited by being indoors. I'd be happy to try outdoors, but assumed the Colorado winters would destroy anything that's intended to bloom.
Thank you, Tropfrog for the candor. I'll have to check out desert rose. Cheers!
