I would not be supriced if its possible for Salix. But why do you want to grow trees in water beads?

It is just a cool idea I had. I grow other plants in them and they keep fungi and other pests away. They also can go without water for long periods of time without dehydrating and it seems to be a healthy option for most plants. It also means you can see the roots easier.

Perhaps i am confused and you mean hydroponics?

Glass/+light + water will create algea in the end. And with firtilizer for the tree that would grow like crazy.

Yes, that is what I mean. I grow some herbs in them and they work well. I know about the algae, but i find it is not a problem. How does aqua bonsai not get algae?
