Hi everyone,

I just purchased a few Japanese Red Maple seedlings. Seedlings look very healthy and are very strong. I keep them outside. Water only when necessary. Here is where things get tricky for me: I live in zone 9 (Texas) and I have been researching the Japanese Red Maple for some time now. I have found that the sun can damage the leaves/plant in zone 9 and that I should keep it in the shade to ensure healthy leaves and growth. The dilemma I'm having is how to get it adequate sun for the photosynthesis process to take place. Should I pace it in the sun in the morning and then move it to the shade in the afternoon? Just not sure what the best thing to do for it to get adequate sunlight without scorching it.

Anything advice helps!

My experience is that leaves only get sunscorched if they are not watered enough.
But if you are concerned you can provide some shade in the hottest part of the day without any problem.
