My husband insists on putting his smaller trees on the kitchen windowsill in full sun, saying they need the light.
I think this is causing the leaves to get brown tips. Where is the best place to keep them?

Trees evolved getting lots of sun. In fact, sunup to sundown. Energy from sunlight draws water from the ground and builds woody parts of the tree.
The roots can get too hot, but that would only matter if the amount of soil is pretty small.
