I found this great specimen but the nursery didn't know what type of Juniper it was. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?
Thanks
This is in Southern California btw if that helps.

I know of only 2 junipers where the dominant form is needles, with -as a tree gets established and more calm- has some scale. Thos are procumbens and san jose.
If indeed you get scale foliage at that tip, I would recommend looking at pictures of both and comparing to find out which looks most like it.

Posted 4 years 8 months ago #58619The foliage and the bark looks the same so I am going to presume its a Foemina for now.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions

If however you get scale foliage, I doubt it is right. All the descriptions I find for the 'foemina' is hat it has needles only.

bunjinjuniper wrote: Thank you. I asked at a local bonsai nursery and it was suggested to be a Foemina juniper and after looking at some pictures it appears to be accurate.

this is not a foemina, i own one and it only grows needle foliage (very sharp needles) that it makes working on them super annoying. i still think this is a procumbens, a rather unhappy procumbens which is why i believe it has some needle foliage. Foliage on a foemina is rather more aggressive (sharp). here are some photos from my current collection.
