So. At a local small flea market I picked up this tree for $20. The guy was not a dealer I could tell as I have amature bonsai experience. Said he inherited the trees from his brother passed. He only had one left but had sold a dozen or so of different varieties. Am I going crazy or this is an older tree or does it look dug up and trimmed and planted. Does it look like to you guys it is old and been in a pot it's lifetime. Good thing is no matter what the answer at least I only have 20 bucks in it. Thanks for your help!

It has not been in this pot very long, or it has been, and the grower was unskilled.

I think it could have been dug from a garden a few years ago.

On your next repot place it deeper in the pot. For now, focus on health for the plant, as it looks a bit unhappy.
