I recieved a beautiful maple a couple of weeks ago thinking it was a japanese green maple but now that I let the leaves grow it looks like a different type of maple. The leaves have alot more serrations and the green color is different than the Japanese green maple I've had for years. Any ideas? I have attached a couple photos so you can see what I'm talking about

We have have seen this same question a couple of times recently, and the answer has been more or less the same:
It's very hard to tell. There are numerous cultivers and distinguishing one from another is pretty hard.
All I can say is that it's an Acer Palmatum.
Colors seem to look like a Kiyohime, but leaf shape seems different. I can only recommend to Google images for Acer Palmatum and try and compare.

Thank you for your comment now I have something to search for. My Japanese green Maple has the same color and shaped leaves when the leaves are brand new but they get fatter and darken up as they get older this one tree has not. I added a photo of my Japanese green Maple so you can see.

It's normal that in spring, there 's more red in the leaves and that it gets greener later on, in summer. Not all of them do that. some keep red borders, some turn green, some turn red.. again, there are so many species... it's hard to tell. The leaf shape doesn't seem the same, so it seems a different variety. Nice trunk on that second tree, by the way.
