I was planning to start with sticks (cuttings), but now I have seen You are ordering plants I am going to go tomorrow and buy something with roots.
After all I dont want to be behind and not win. He he he!
Can I ask You a secret question? Which is the easiest tree to fuse for a newbie? And which ones dont fuse?

Neli, in your climate I'd say ficus would be the easiest. The main reason why we buy plants.. Our growing season is only 6 months long. The re-growing of bare-rooted seedlings will take this long; Fusion is not certain at all within one growing season here..

I went around the garden and found my honey suckle has hundreds of rooted shoots in the ground. Told my gardener to dig them all but it has been raining the whole day.
That is one option, but I am looking for something else also. I have not finalized yet my choice.
At list while it was raining the gardener sharpened a piece of wood for the inner part.
I am going to be number one...So be serious guys! He he he!

The idea is that you submit your own project. So better have the gardener submit the project

He he he! You want to make my gardener a bonsai master? And win the prize? No way. I also sharpened the stick a bit...so it counts.

i would agree ,get your hands dirty and dig them its only fair to do all the work yourself.

What can I say...I wanted to enter this competition so much...but you have really put me off...You can be really mean people. Some of you went and bought the cuttings...did you get your hands dirty... Sharpening a stick (while it is raining) and digging the cuttings from the garden will never make my gardener a bonsai keeper.
This is a competition...it requires sportsmanship attitude and not being mean to each other...
So what is the point of me even now trying to enter, when you want to give all the credit to my gardener for digging the cuttings and sharpening a stick...Is that all there is to fusing??? and taming bonsai?
I am sure that if I bought the cuttings...and some suitable stick...you were going to give the credit to the shop where I bought the things and that was going to make you happy.
There are things that I do in my garden and there are things that I dont do...and that is for me to decide and not for you...and there are other things that occupy my time that are more important than digging in the garden...

Neli; you are welcome to enter but I do agree with Leatherback, it should be your project. But you're welcome to be helped by your gardener ofcourse.

I think honeysuckle would make a nice project. It can have a really interesting trunk! Plus, I love the smell of honeysuckle.

Thank You for the kind words...Much appreciated...I have settled on ficus but the cutting have too few roots yet...so I am still waiting for them to root well.
