Thanks everyone but it will cost you $10 a tree for permits. That's the down side of this state, nothing is free. :S

Wow, I'm jealous too!! Do you ever go out "tree surveying" and then find a nice and and go get a permit? For some trees, $10.00 isn't bad. (Granted free is always nice, but I'm glad they are protecting their trees.)
Also, I'm glad that you mentioned the permit. I've been scoping out the trees on my road and wondering how to legally go about collecting a couple, since they are on state land, so I just wrote the DEC and asked them how much it would be for a permit. Hopefully they write back and problem solved! It's interesting that in your state the permits are per tree. I'm looking forward to seeing what it is here in WNY.
