My first attempt at bonsai will be with my jade plant. It has a pretty hefty trunk. Suggestions? Also, where should I shop for a good pot that will hold it down. Jade is pretty heavy.

Erm.... follow the care guidelines for jade trees and choose the best possible design depending on the material you have?
