Hey everyone. I am bran new to the forum and bonsai, so I am scouting a few trees to pot from my backyard at some point to play around on the cheap. I found a three stem favorite that I think could turn out very cool so I don't want to mess it up. Its in a very shaded location so I am considering potting it to move it to sun but I'm not sure if it is too early. I think it is a first year seedling. Also not sure what type of maple it is. Pics included.

It totally depends on what you want to do with it. Just wait until you see potential in it. If you just know what you want to create from it, you will know when it is time. I lifted my first candidate after 14 years of growing in the ground and trunk development 2 years ago. Still have a lot of trees training in ground 2-20 years.
