Straightening a 21 years old chinese elm trunk was created by owenny1

Hi Everyone
Could anyone help me with this one please,
just bought a 21 year old twisted trunk Chinese elm and would like to
straighten it as much as possible. ive attached 2 pics to show what its like
as I said to get it as straight as possible is d plan so any tricks r advise would be brilliant.

Forget it. There is no way you will take any bend out of that tree. Take some cuttings or buy one with a straighter trunk.

Or you can trunk chop it and give it more natural curves and taper.

what about notching it??

Not sure what you mean by notching, trying to change the style of it would not be best for it, use the style it is,. What makes you think it is that old? looks more like 5 years old to me.but age is mot important, Still you would better finding another cheap tree if you must have one with a straigher trunk.

Notching is normally done on trees that callus easy, and this tree will need a serious cut to be bend.Not sure if it will heal in the next 10 years after notching it. Another option is to air layer it just above the first left branch and make 2 trees. That is easy.
