Front of tree and other issues

The second picture was the original front of this 50 year boxwood. I intended to carve the dead wood some and it was going to be real good.
In February the dead leaves at the top were green and looked flourishing. Then the whole top died. Now I am thinking cut that whole piece off, turn it about 90°, and keep on carving. Option two would be cut the tall piece and carve up the part that died. Option three would be something else.
Ideas?
