Hi all,
I bought this acer last year and did some root pruning, shortened the height but couldnt decide which branch to keep or how to shape. So I only applied some low stress training to the branches and bended them to sides. Now Im thinking of letting it grow this season and see what I have at the end of fall but I am open for any ideas and suggestions.
P.s I know grafted bonsai is not good but I just want to give it a shot
Thanks all

In my opinion, the real problem is the graft being too high on the trunk, and inevitably there will be a bulge, and reverse taper will be more visible.
But answering your question, yes, let it grow for a while.
