Hi guys I¡¯m new here, me nmy other half perched out 1st bonsai yesterday I¡¯ve looked on the web how to water them and seen different ways, I did see one video where the pants was fully submerged in to water and let the bubbles stop before removing the plant so I followed that process.

Am I doing this right? And this should be dont when the soil is touch dry?

Also feeding when do I need to do this?

If someone could also tell me what type of tree I have I¡¯d be happy!

I¡¯ll add some photos

Looking forward to your reply :)

Your tree is a chinese elm.

It i best to water well, so that the water comes out of the drainage holes. The substrate you have will compact very much if you dunk it in a bucket of water. Just top-water using lukewarm water.

The tree seems to be in a very dark area. Ideall you keep it outside, or if that is impossible, in a cool room right next to the winter. It is a plant. Not a decorative object.

Here are some guidelines from me regarding the species. It may differ from other sources, but that is what has been succcessful for me. Watering is just one part for success, take your time for the whole video and I think you will enjoy your tree more.

You still need to get it outside, it will fare much better than inside.

It is not an indoor! There is no such thing as indoor bonsai. Chinese Elms are hardy and need the cold of winter to thrive.

Sam

The way the TREE looks tells me it is in too dark a spot.
Water when the soil starts to dry, and the top of the soil is no longer moist, but before the rest of the rootball dries out. When you water, water to the point that water drains out. It sometimes is needed to do this twice with a 20 minute interval if parts of the rootbal have dried out. Fertilize during the growing season with a commercial plant fertilizer as instructured on the package.

As said before. Outside is A LOT easier. Man could live on the moon. But living on earth is a lot easier..
