I will be charting the progression of my first tree here. I would love to hear any advice or suggestions. I think I would like to go with the look of a "savannah" tree, but am not entirely convinced on anything. I got the tree about six months ago. It is a 13-year-old Brazilian Rain Tree.
The farthest back photo is the day I bought it.
The one in the gravel is when the leaves started to yellow, the tree lost nearly all of its leaves.
The two with the beige background is the tree now. One side appears to have more leaves than the other. It does have an extraneous growth, but I'm leaving it for now.
I'd like to work on the truck as you can see it is under developed, also I'd like to establish a goal for the tree, but I don't know where to go with it yet. Please chime in, I am very new to this. I think I have established how to care for the tree at this point, now to start slowly working to my goal (whatever that may be).

Sort of, yes. I love the shape of the branches, but the umbrella leaves are a little much. I'd like for leaves. So yes, that shape, not that level of foliage.

That is what the shop older told me, unless I misheard her. She did have an accent. How old does it look? I was also wondering, should I put it in a bigger pot to grow out its roots? I don't want to add anymore height to the tree. Just fill it out.

You probably did not mishear her, but your plant is 6 or 7 years old.
