Note: I like the thorns on the one group. It gives it an ominous look. And they are a really pretty silver color, even though you can't see it in the pictures. Apparently I have lots of trees in my backyard that grow new trees up from the roots, and that was what I was digging up. Each one had it's own root syste,. I think the one grouping will make a nice forest, and I like how the top have of the bottom what is hollow, I know I can work with that but haven't decided how yet. (Obviously, I just got it.)

*sigh, I meant to say, Each one had its own root system. I think the one grouping will make a nice forest, and I like how the top half of the one in the bottom picture is hollow, I know I can work with that but haven't decided how yet. (Obviously, I just got it.)

Im pretty jealous.. Maples don't grow naturally where I live, and nurseries only stock big maples if they even have any.

Bummer!!You guys probably have some neat trees where you are that don't grow here. I've realized that maples tend to survive well here, so I think they will be my main type of tree. I got my acer maples off of ebay, and they are doing really well. You could check ebay. I could try sending you some maples but I can't guarantee they the state they'd be in when they arrive!

Ya im sure I do, we have lots of wild olives that are 70 years+ which are commonly used for yamadori here. And lots of other indigenous plants like the fynbos biome which isn't found anywhere else in the world. But most fynbos are not suited to bonsai... Hmm maybe that's something I should experiment with.
