Japanese Maple Ramification Advice

I'm pretty new to this bonsai life so please bear with me on the type of questions I'm about to ask. I did tons of research from several websites like 名媛直播 Empire, 名媛直播 Nut, and etc. I understand the method and purpose of ramification but I need to further define a specific case when it comes to my Japanese Maple. The picture attached was taken after a minor pruning session and a very minor wiring test just to get the feel of both. From my observation, the tree has a longer than usual internode branches. I'm aiming for a natural tree look so my approach now was to wait and allow it to grow out like crazy again and do the complete wiring in September of this year. I want to create good ramification with the existing tree condition but afraid to cut back too far and ruin the balance look of the tree. Maybe I'm see this from a beginner point of view so your expertise will be appreciated. Please provide any good resources to further understand this technique. Let me know what should I do? Again thank you for your time, so any comments will be helpful.

Looks like a good bonsai, so I understand your hesitation. But in leaf it is almost impossible te tell what the ramnification looks like.
In some cases people cut back to the primary branches. In others, people just use full defoliation to get new inner growth, and cut back to that.

To add to what leatherback was saying you will also need to reduce the amount of Nitrogen it gets through fertilization. The faster it grows the further the internodes.

Here is one I am working on the Trunk of:
I am fertilizing it regularly to encourage growth. I will worry about ramification later.
This one I have in the ground and haven't fertilized it in a while.

Without cutting back too much, how would you create more ramification. Im afraid I have to cut back just to start over from the main branches.

The article by Walter Pall was great. He create some of the best looking nontraditional style bonsai. I will follow this technique and lets see how my maple turn out. Now its the waiting period and allow it to grow freely.

Although I agree the technique of Water is great, do remember that you have a very far developed tree now. So when it does not have leaves, do a good examination on whether you want to keep the branches you have, or whether you need to refine a lot further in.
As sad, in leaf it is impossible to tell what the tree looks like. And that is needed to decide whether you need to go back to the primary branches.

Thank you for all your inputs. Attached are photos without the leaves that can further explain and define the situation I'm in. Please review and provide any additional insight you have to improve the overall ramification on this maple. Attach is a great example of a finish maple that im planning to reference when Im doing the wiring technique in September 2017. The selected Japanese Maple is such a piece of art when you look at it. I have alot of respect for the Owner of this maple so I hope you don't mind if i based my own design with your art piece. Please review and provide comments.
