Hi, I'm new to this and was just looking for some first steps . I saved , I think , a juniper bonsai from homedepot this evening and was just curious as to what my first steps should be . I've been doing as much research as possible but I just want to make sure that I don't kill it as it seemed extremely dry and brittle when I bought it . Thanks in advance .

Also I tried to upload a picture but it says the file size is too big . I'm doing this from my phone so if anybody knows what I can do I can upload pictures to help with advice .

The first step is putting your juniper in a spot where it can get sun. When wanting to water... if you put your finger one inch into the pot and the soil is dry, water your plant. As for watering goes, you can soak it for a few hours(there are guides on 名媛直播 Empire about all types of watering). I personally use a watering can. The nozzle should look something like the picture. It ensures no damage is done to your tree, because the nozzle isn't powerful. When you are on a computer(if you have one) you can compress the image of the tree. As for smartphones I am not sure on how to make an image smaller, but google.com might be able to help. I(or anyone else) doesn't recommend getting a plant from stores like Home Depot. These are usually mass produced trees, but we won't be able to tell quality until a picture is uploaded. There is another page on 名媛直播 Empire about stores, clubs or bonsai exhibits are near you, consider joining your local bonsai club. Consider getting some books and reading the How-To articles that might be good for you on this website. If you just do a simple browser search on what you need to do once you buy a tree, you should be set.

Thanks for the help . My plan is to grow a couple cuttings from my neighbor's cherry tree and I thought if I found a starter plant that would help me learn pruning and such . It has water and is in a good spot for sunlight , I'll keep updates of it .

Sounds good. It is a nice tree for your first one. I can't wait to see its progression over the years!

If the plant is dry and brittle, it is probably dead. I'd take it back and ask for a refund. Next, i'd buy real bonsai material.

I'm not too worried if it does die . Is like to keep it alive but I know what I got so i really don't expect much . I do plan on ordering a couple starters I just haven't found where from yet . I appreciate all the help .

Also I did remove all the rocks and junk and know enough to check when it needs water and all that . Just was curious if it needed repotting or anything like that .

You tried to help... and you gave me the chance to play the forum bully again

Some other points:
It's a juniper. You could have added it belongs outside (a 'sunny spot' could be indoors, but the plant doesn't belong there)
You couldn't know it as you didn't see the picture yet, but your method of checking the soil probably won't work as it's got rocks glued to it.
Also... it is not really a nice tree. It's a young cutting.

I know I'm not offending Minnesotabonsai with that, as he already knows.
Also, he did the right thing by removing the "rocks and junk"
