Hi All,
looking for a bit of help here, was given this bonsai as a present, no label to say what kind of tree is was, so kind would like to know so that I can read up about the correct care I should give it.

Or ficus? lol I am not good at this. Someone with a better eye could you comment please?. Trunk looks like boxwood to me, but leaves ate too long and thin.

It's most likely a cultivar of buxus sempervirens, otherwise known as 'American Boxwood.'

@eangola There can be much variation in leaf shape within the 400-ish different cultivars of buxus sempervirens so it is understandable to be confused.

Thanks, so will this tree happily live indoors, or should it be outdoor, I live in the north of Scotland and winters can get quite cold.
Appreciate your comments and any tips you have for keeping bonsai tree healthy as I am a bit of a novice.

Most boxwood varieties are outdoor evergreens. I know, though, that some boxwood can be kept indoors.

You will not keep box alive long inside. It will cope easily with conditions in Scotland and anywhere in the UK it will stand temperatures down to at least -10C.
