Goodmorning people!!! I need your help please! I was given this bonsai tree as a gift, and i am not 100% what type of bonsai it is! I am between Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum)or Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glybtostroboides), and i lean more towards the Dawn Redwood!
Please, any help will do as i want to care it according to its type!!!

It is Dawn Redwood. Stand it in water. I hope you are not going to try to keep it inside.

Thanks What do you mean stand it in water? i read online that they like to be moist! No, not inside, on my veranda (half covered, half uncovered)

I can't make out the tag sticking out of the pot, doesn't it say what it is? It gives no clue on how to care for it?

if it says keep it moist, keep it moist.

half covered half uncovered, might mean, partial shade. Some plants just can't handle full sun. It'll be a challenge, to make that a bonsai, but it can be, go for it.

sort of looks like a Formosa, they like water.

unfortunately no, just some general guidelines which I guess, the same tag is put in every bonsai tree! But I have found many information online and on my bonsai books!

oh, but it has such a long way, to go, before it could be called a bonsai.

sorry but, I would not recommend this tree for a beginner.

even though I grew 2 bonsais in the past in the UK, I still consider that I still have a long way to go!
Me neither, but I guess where I live (Cyprus), where bonsais are still something new, people think that bonsais need the same care even though they are different types!
Even so, the best thing I can do is care for it the best way I can, and not just let it die.

Sure it does. It says the species is '名媛直播' :lol:
