I don't know what type of tree this is.
Spruce or Larch?

It seemed to be doing fine when I first got it. I thought I was suppose to water it often, by keeping the soil moist and spritzing it with a spray bottle a couple times a day. it is indoors with no sunlight.

It is now very dry and the pines are very sharp and brittle, only little touch and they fall off.

I've heard to soak them in water for an hour or so once a month, but don't want to do that.
I think I should get a UV light for it?

thanks

This is a juniper and should have been outside from the start.

Plants do not belong indoors, and most tree species cannot survive indoors.

Direct sunlight is vital for Juniper.

If the foliage if brittle, it will not recover

That means it's dead. Fortunately you didn't kill a bonsai.

@Samantha: junipers can stay green for a long time. If all the foliage is sharp and brittle and it falls off at the touch, it really is dead already.
