First of all, put it rightside up. Plants detest being on their sides for a long time.
After that... Decide what you want to do with the plant. As you bought it, you have a vision for it, otherwise you would not have bought it. So what is your long-term plan?

Sorry about the photos I dont know how to make them come out straight I think its because im using a smartphone to upload them .
And about the tree , my plan was to make something like this
I think this is a good example because my tree also has two main trunks and a little stump at a side I also want to use this tree to learn some deadwood techniques as I read that privets are good for it but in all honesty I have no clue where to start.

It is a very bad example. The privet you show there is "Harry Harrington's Big Privet". The base of that tree is about 40cm wide, if I remember correctly.
Unless you want to put your plant in the ground for 40 years, you will not get anything near that image. It is way too small.

Oh ok wow I had no idea it was so big but what I meant to say is that I wanted to follow that kind of style. with two main trunks and at the base loads of deadwood so I would make it seem like the tree has regrown after being completely knoked down if you know what I mean ?
But these are only my first thoughts I will probably change my mind quite often on this tree because ot has quite a strange form so if you have any visions or ideas I would certainly listen to them and appreciate them
Thanks
Nico

If you are just begining I think it is a good idea to let the tree grow freely the first year.
So you will know how to best cultivate your tree, and after that you could begin to apply some tecniques like wiring and pruning.
It would be very useful to know which is the substrate of your tree, and when was last repotted.
Also it is neededto know in which zone you live to help you.

Vicente

Ok so the is in what I think is akadama and some organic soil aswell im am not very sure as I only saw it while I was checking if it was root bound and I forgot to ask the person who sold me it but he did tell me that it has been in that pot for 1 year and by looking at the roots it will probs need repotting next year . I am currently living in Ayrshire (Scotland)
Thank you

So you have one year to learn how to properly repot your tree.
Beside that you have to know what do you want your tree to be. The photo that you uploaded seems like a good approach, but I recommend you to draw more humble ones, in accordance with your tree branch structure. So you will be able to program next year work.
You say the soil has some akadama. That will give you some clue to properly water the plant. Akadama's color is lighter when is dry. Don?t wait it to be completely dry, and water thoroughly. Stop when the pot drains water significantly.
You have also to feed your plant. I use in Spring time Hanagokoro pellets. You have to stop feeding in August, and continue again during Fall.
Regards
Vicente
PS. I am from Spain. Sorry for my under average English.

Your english is excellent.
Personally, I would not consider Hanagokoro for this tree, it's quite expensive, and any organic fertlizer will do.

Appreciate the replies
I will start drawing a few ideas as soon as possible.
As for the watering , the akadama that is in it is not visible as it is under a layer of moss so I cant really use it as a reference but I do have a few trees and I think im starting to get the hang of watering a little bit as the trees seem to like it
And finally regarding the feeding o am currently using a liquid fertiliser is it not recommendable ?
PS am italian and I know some Spanish so I dont mind if you use some Spanish words lol
Gracias Vicente
Thank you Auk
