I'm no expert, so I could be wrong, but it looks like a ficus to me.

I would say ficus too.

It is not a bonsai though.

It is a Ficus alright... A Ficus Ginseng to be a bit more specific. By the way... Get rid of those stones, they are not needed in any way and they would't add up anything interesting to the possible general design. ;)

Are you sure? I think the Ficus microcarpa has rounder foliage, and less elongated

Well, not a 100% sure, but the bulbous and deformed shape of its roots gives me a hint. The thing is, I don?t know for sure if any other ficus variety presents this feature besides Ginseng.

Yes. Many do.

E.g.,
Ficus ilicina -
Ficus Abitufolia -

personally, in my view, read the previous posts, i would say it may be an ilicani, or one of the ficus's which have that rough bark, it probably is not ilicina because of the leaf positioning. but i can see why you would say that it may be ginseng, but the bark is too rough alain (in my mind). i have no idea other than that though, and have no experience with this wide variety of plant. may be wrong.

I have a ginseng and the bark texture and color looks just like my tree. The roots look similar as well. However, I am not that familiar with all the other ficus varieties.
