Posted 10 years 4 months ago #12237I don't know if you repotted it, but your plant could be in an inproper pot. You should put fresh soil in with it so it gets the nutrients it needs, you can read online about what types of dirt to put it. I used regular potting soil for mine and gravel along the bottom of the pot for draining. The pot should have a drain hole so the water doesn't stay in the pot and rot the roots. Also make sure the roots have enough room to grow and support the plant.
I also learned that if the leaves are turning yellow that means your plant is either not adjusting properly to sunlight amount changes or it is getting too much water. You also may want to make sure it does not have any bugs or fungus. It is possible that your tree is not in the right climate, if it is tropical it should only be outside when the weather is hot. Hopefully someone IDs your tree for you soon so you can care for it better. I will see if I can find some pictures that match it online somewhere.
Best of luck with your tree and I hope this was at least somewhat helpful.

Posted 10 years 4 months ago #12238Where have you got it located? Is it outside? If it is the plant I think then it is in a very small pot for the size of the plant. That does not mean you should re pot it. Have you asked in the shop where you bought it how to look after it?

Posted 10 years 4 months ago #12241The way it looks now, it probably has been left too dry, and then watered. I'd say the roots are in trouble, putting the whole plant in trouble.
As for a previous post that say the soil needs replacing; With bonsai you do NOT replace the soild because there are no nutrients. You want soil without nutrient, so you can steer nutrient availability with watering and fertilizer.
Look at the care instructions, and follow those and hope it survives. You may want to carefully lift the plant from the pot and see whether the roots are
- Black soggy stinking (Bad news: Roots are dead and rotting)
- Light to dark brown (Healthy roots, not growing)
- light to dark brown with loads of white ends (Excellent news: The plant is growing, and should have a good change of survival)
Be carefull though, if the plant is unhealthy, the rootball might fall apart. Should this happen, be prepared to repot, and perhaps scurry to the store to get some soil.
When repotting: Do not press the soil down on the roots. I see a lot of people putting force on their roots. Roots break this way. Needles to say that breaking roots is not a good idea, I hope.

So that makes a 100% certainty - seeing your track record of identifying trees, there now no longer is any doubt
I would say that you left it in the compact soil from which it was left in when brought, so it may be pot bound
I don't think that would cause this effect 2 weeks after buying it.
