Hi guys. Im fairly new to bonsais and I need help with my ficus microcarpa. I noticed in the past few weeks some of the leaves were growing brown (not drying) and folding in. I shrugged it off at first and cut those off. The problem persisted then i took a close look at one and opened the leaf and inside were small, black, thin insects I could not identify. Even more troubling is that new foliages growing start out brown and folded in. I thought about using pesticide but it might harm my plant.
Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks!

those are Thrips. Immdiatly remove the infected leaves, always keep on eye with it, dont let those pest to reproduce. Crush and squeeze those leaves to kill the insect. Move away your tree within the erea where infected plant are located.

neem oil is a systemic insecticide applied with watering. it will not harm the tree and will kill any insects that feed on the tree
