It is imperative the repot: remove the existing substrate to be clay and put it in a draining substrate with a bit of sieved composted pine bark. Do not cut the roots now, we have to protect it from cold and rain. Be sure to tie the tree at the pot.

Hi Daniele,
Thanks for a fast response .. Just a few questions regarding your post .. When you said "existing substrate to be clay" what did you actually have in mind ? And how do you tie the tree at the pot ?

howdy jaunuolis,
danielle is from france so her english isn't perfect.her mentioning of the clay substrait is refering to the original soil and that it is retaining too much water (clay dirt based )
you need some kind of soil mixure that drains very quickly( gravel based) with pine bark added for a little water retention.cactus soil works if bonsai soil is not avalible.
as for tieing to the pot it may already be. its tough to explain how to do it, but it is wired trough the bottom hole and tied to the trunk or root ball

hello neighbor, I'll put a link 'in French to see in pictures how to tie the tree into the pot. Attention to this season should not cut the roots, it's a potting in the emergency and out of season for beginners. It is better to take any risks.
