I used the wrong soil which was basic black dirt which I did t know you can't use pure black dirt. So now I have a proper bonsai soil to airrate thr roots properly.
It had to many branches so I removed all except 1 and as I try to wire it it broke. And thr combination of all that made the plant die down.
So this is what I am left with.
Hope the roots not to rotedout from previous soil.
Is there a chance it will shoot out a leaf?
Now my main important question.
The lighting.
I live in dark basement so I bought a 4 stem led grow light that's not purple but all spea trum it says.
I think it says 40w it has 80 LEDs most white some red and I think some bluish.
The leaves turned brown like brown spots then shed some leaves. One thing is for sure it did not lack water.
How many hours should the grow light be over the bonsai and should I put it to llhigesr level?
Before it was highest level and about 8 hours and about 1.3 feet above the bonsai.
I thought the bonsai didn't like that light or was too strong for the leaves to start after 3 days about to show brown color.
I am aware that soon Il have no choice to buy another one but this time I will use the proper bonsai soil I just got that you see in picture and I will not cut branches till 1 year has past from purchase. But will led grow light be ok as lighting or it need the actual sun?

So you cut the graft away and now you are aiming at growing it back again as it was before? Sorry to bear bad news, but it will not grow the same again without doing a new graft.

I am not sure what your intention is with this tree, but it does not look like bonsai to me.

Regarding light most bonsai people do not use them but rely solely on sunlight. However, a led light need to be very strong to be too much (more than sunlight). I am totally sure your light is not too much. However after a long time in a dark place increased light may give a shock. So start 1 m over the tree and lower it slowly to make the tree adapt to the light.

Once again Tropfrog gets it right.

I had a grow light for the tropicals over the winter. It ran 12 hours a day with the trees sitting by a south facing window, which meant a little bit of sun. They never got enough light to grow well. The ficus lost a lot of leaves that all came back when I moved them outside in the spring.

There isn't really a substitute for the trees natural environment.

Putting it in full sun in window after I put it in proper draining soil. After 24 to 48 hours about I scratch the bark gently and bright green showed. I'm glade it's still alive with no branches or leaves. As soon as it has 3 leaves I will reput it under grow light.Hope 1st leaf will apear in coming months. It's been very tromatized by me.

Please! Do not scrape the bark off the tree! Don't repot a tree with just three leafs! Just put the tree outdoors and let it grow freely and recover from your earlier abuse.

And most important. Do not advice other beginners on this forum how to do things when you obviously have no experience and no knowledge.

If you are in the nortern hemisphere and it is summer now, do not put it under grow lights. Put it outdoors and let it enjoy real sun.

The major result of the scratch test is to provide an opening for insects and disease to get into the tree. If parts of the tree appear dead the scratch test can verify that it is dead, but I would only do that when I was sure it was dead, or maybe an obviously dead branch.

And for you to say only if you are sure it's dead then scratch then if you are sure why scratch?

That was the point.

When I have a long branch that is almost certainly dead, I take the pruners and cut off a piece of the branch pretty far from what may be live. The bark there should be dead brown. Then a centimeter or less, then another, looking at the cut to see if there us green. Usually I stop before I get to green and wait till next spring to see where leaves pop out. The only reason for this is to be able to visualize what I might develop the tree into.
