Question about my Rock Juniper's foliage... was created by ZonderVold

Hello,
I've noticed that my rock juniper's foliage has become extremely brittle. I can and have accidentally ripped off some foliage. The pine leaves have become quite sharp all over the tree.
I'm not sure why this happened, I've been watering the bonsai every 2-3 days depending on the moisture of the soil.
The bonsai is kept indoors as it was raised indoors. The tree is about 5.5 years old. I bought it about 5-6 months ago as my first bonsai.
The only reason I could think this might have happened was because the sudden drop in temperature as we are entering winter in my state. Is this perhaps what happened? Should I be worried? Should I do something differently?
Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like a dieing juniper. But please post a picture.
Junipers are not indoor plants. If your juniper was raised indoors that for sure was not living room conditions. Without proper dormancy they die.

Does this angle work?
Is there anything I can do to save the juniper?

It looks like there are still a chanse to rescue It. Put it in a cold but frost free place (around 5c) to give it proper dormancy. Come spring put it outdoors and gradually get it used to full sun. If successful, leave it outside and never bring it inside again.

Understood, thank you.
Sounds like my garage is the best place.
I'll let you know if anything happens.
Should I except the leaves to return to their non-brittle state throughout the winter if the rescue is successful?

A juniper with [only] brittle foliage is a dead juniper, I am afraid.
The cause is probably the heater switching on, as part of keeping this indoors. Do not grow them indoors.

There is no chance it could still be saved like the method described by the other person?

If all the branches are brittle, it is gone.

Only the foliage is brittle, the branches are not yet brittle.

All this negativity is infecting the forum.
There is a slight chanse still, its not brown yet. Do as I told you, there are really nothing to lose in this situation.
I use to say: it is not a failure if you learn something from it. The lesson learnd should be that there are no such thing as an indoor juniper.
