Hi Donal
I can't see the pic
Larix has very soft needles that drop in autumn and reappear in spring, Here's one of mine ,,
This image is hidden for guests.
If the needles are approachin an inch in length then it will be a European Larch, If they're half that length it will be a Japanese Larch...
Regards, John

Hi Donal,
The picture is pretty out of focus to get a good look at the tree. It's probably a Larch though.

Looks like a larch ( but like the previous poster said: out of focus) If you live in the northern hemisphere your larch should be completely green now, looks really yellow now. When was it repotted ( why is it now standing with its pot in a pot?) and when was it wired?

Thanks, it came wired as seen in the photo. Was told it would need to be reportted in Feb'21. The top it is standing in is the one that it was advised to be repotted to next year, will se about taking a better photo. Thanks for the responses !

This plant is very weak, and I would not be re potting such a weak tree. The wiring is not good, and should be removed. The other pot looks far too big for this plant.

I have removed the wiring as advised. Is this gone beyond repair (picture attached) or is there something I can do to resurrect it ?

Hm.. Why did you remove the wire? Any damage done during wiring was done. Removing the wire will stress the tree again.
Where in the world are you? If you are in the Northern Hemisphere you are in trouble as you seem to have removed all needles too.
Best you can do not is provide plenty of light and water sparingly.
How did it get to this state? How did you care for it?
