Chinese Elm Losing Leaves was created by kennytodd

So as you can see in the pictures my Chinese Elm is wilting and losing it’s leaves. It was very strong and healthy this past few months but I had some personal issues and was not able to water the tree as I should have been for about two weeks. It is also just the beginning of fall where I live. I don’t think it’s a seasonal shed but I am no expert. Can someone help me save this tree?

Oh NO!
It is completely, absolutely, hopelessly DEAD!
For the umpteenth time on this forum, DON'T forget to water your trees for 15 days.

Yes that was uncalled for, and his response was accurate. Leaving a plant for that length of time without water killed it.

I have never said so.
I just wrote you have killed your tree, which is true.

Very sad to see the tree been dead, but believe me, we all did that somewhere down the line.
And like you say yourself, try to find somebody to water your plants for a period of absence

Yes, the tree might be dead or dying, that is a Hard fact.

But I woldnt give up just yet. Trees have Amazing capabilities to survive. Get back to a good watering routine and see what will happen. I would not be suppriced if the tree show some signs of life in the spring. So even if it is just weak suckers. It Will most likelly not be a Quality bonsai for a very long time. But meanwhile you will learn and develop your skills. It is important in the hobby to have realistic expectations. For your tree it would be a slight chanse of survival. Not show material next spring.

Probably is. But.. Taking a close look at the trunk.. It is not completely dried out. I would be surprised if it returns to life, but one never knows.
