Hello everyone
Hoping someone can give some advice. Long story short - my father passed away recently and I'm trying to help my mother with the many hobbies he had. One of which were his bonsai trees.
From the attached pics can you give the sort of prices we should be asking to move them on?
Thanks
Glenn

SO sorry for your loss.
Good to see that you care about the trees he has left behind.
It is near impossible to tell you what these will sell for realistically I am afraid. You really should get someone from your area to come in and help you there. Was he a member of a club? Typically a club can help you out.
The reason for my answer above is multifold.
- Tree species have different values in different countries. What is common in one place, is really rare in another. So from Germany (Where I am located) I might get really excited about an old thick trident. Yet do not look twice at a similar oak.
- Each tree has a number of characteristics to look for, such as the way the branches sit, the way they have been cut, shaped etc. It is near impossible to get a good feel for this from a picture, and impossible from the overview pictures you have posted.
- The value of the tree is determined also by market demand. If you are far from a potential buyer they might not want to pay top price, just because of the risk of shipping, and because the cannot examin the tree personally
That being said.. From what I CAN tell from the pictures, I would say you have no trees there that would go far into the 250 USD+ range. And I think most (except maybe 2 or 3) trees should bring in 50USD+. All these trees are typical of a regular reasonably skilled hobby grower.
Most of these trees are sellable: HEalth, OK trunklines, well-maintained.

Thank you. We are in Guernsey, Channel Islands and there used to be a bonsai club here but not anymore.
Both myself and my mum know absolutely nothing about this and I'm just trying to ease the burden on her by clearing his hobbiesl.
Guernsey is very small so the only chance we have are to sell them locally are advertising in the local paper or local Facebook eBay group but have no idea what to ask.

Yeah, that would be a bit of a challenge I can imagine!
I am a little afraid that you will have to accept you will not get super prices for these. In fact, it is uncommon for people to get more for their trees than what they paid for them in the shops Only the minority manages to work the trees in a way that they get so much better that you get more money .
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I would surely be interested in possibly purchasing some of your fathers collection, however I am in the US. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in with the legality of shipping them to the US.

Sorry for your loss.
I would buy some of them, but I am too far away.
Here in Brazil they surely would go for around €500 the best ones and around €75 the younger/smaller.

So sorry for your loss.
I¡¯d love to buy one but I couldn¡¯t travel across France for a tree : (
Do you know from where your father got some of them? Maybe they could help you.

No idea I'm afraid. My parents used to travel to the UK and bring them back in the car. Some I know for sure are over 30 years old.
