First things first: leave it outside, water as the soil looks/feels dryish, take out the pebbles, take out the rock, someday (some years) repot it in a better pot.
But to know more about how to take care of your little juniper, take a look:

The question is:
What is your long term plan? Do you think that example looks like a good bonsai?
Are you satisfied if your juniper gets to look like this? Then by all means, go ahead (look up when to wire/prune though!). You will get to practice and that's good.
Or do you want to create something better?

They must be there where they are in nature: outside.
Do NOT bring it inside.
If you use proper draining soil, in general, no cover is needed.
Imagine a juniper in nature - there are no junipers that use umbrella's and still they are doing just fine.
It's not a puppy.... it's a tree.
