I've got this Ficus natalensis for about 5 months now. I couldn't do much with it as all the branches just grew from the same point on the trunk and there was one big branch that really was to thick. Today I decided that its time for a new beginning with this tree.

Hi Gekkie, for some reason I can never see the pics you attach. Anybody any idea why?

Why did you take all branches off? Do you not want it to live? If it still had any branches I would say that the roots need sorting, but not sure it is worth it now.

Gekkie thanks for the pics. Nice neagari, I would like to have a tree with those to try and make something like chinese literati with it.

It is currently spring by us and a Ficus is a tree that can handle a cut like that. Within a few weeks the first new buds must start forming.
With most of the branches that came out at the same level a big nob will develop and you will endup with a funny looking bonsai. If you refer to the bonsai rules you will notice that it is not good.

I like the nebari. They remind me of those alien machines in the tom Cruise movie War of the World's.

I know the roots need work, but because I've cut the tree , I'll wait for the tree to start growing, before I solve the roots.
