Since this is a yearly thing, do the leaves grow out in early spring, fall off every May, come back later, and then fall off in the Fall? Or is the annual leaf drop in May?

Mine is in full leaf and lost none. Also in flower and producing fruit. I wonder how long it has been in that soil? It does not seem to be too healthy, could be a root issue, not sure
